SPECIAL RITUALS  AND NOTES ON TANTRIC SEX

TANTRIC YOGA

Tantric Yoga is best defined as a more sexually oriented from of Hatha Yoga.
Tantric yoga is a physical discipline which incorporates varied sexual positions.  Its philosophies are  based, to a large degree, on Tantric  teachings.
It is not only difficult to define Tantric Yoga, but also to determine just how "Tantric" it is.
Many "gurus" who teach so-called Tantric Yoga are in reality ascetics who are more accurately teaching the rigid disciplines of Hatha Yoga, with sexual position exercises added to the routine. They still insist on the meditative aspect of Hatha Yoga, and on the separation of body and mind.
Such teachers are not, in a true sense, teaching anything "Tantric."
On the other hand, I have found a few groups (usually informally organized) who study "Tantric Yoga" and do incorporate their interpretation of the Tantric Rituals and Doctrines in their studies.  They do not teach ascetic disciplines.  Rather, they are far removed from the Hatha Yoga  doctrines.  They have taken basic Yoga and removed any ascetic philosophy,  turning instead  to the search for unity of body  and mind, as taught with the freedom granted  in pure Tantra.
In the Tantric  texts there exist certain physical exercises which are the real Tantric Yoga, if Yoga is accepted as "a physically oriented discipline" and no more.
The "Contemplative Position" outlined in the Rituals, and the position used in the Alone Rituals, might well be described as Yoga positions .
For example, in the Tantric texts, there is the following "Yoga like" exercise:
The purpose  of this exercises is to provide  a new sensation to heightened sexual stimulation  and orgasm.  All Tantric would benefit, say the texts, from spending at least one half hour per week standing on their heads to reverse the bodily flows, including the pumping attitude of the heart.
In this specific  sexual exercise is , the Female with the Male's assistance, stands on her head, preferably against a wall, her shoulders and buttocks   touching the wall,  her legs straight up.  She maintain this  position for several minutes, with the Male helping her if she is not adept at headstands.
The Male massages her breasts while she is in this position; then he parts her legs and stimulates the perineum, labia, and clitoris.  Once the Female becomes aroused, the Male may (as determined mutually before the exercises began) either continue to masturbate the Female to orgasm, or begin to stimulate her orally and bring her to orgasm by cunnilingus. The entire objective is that orgasm is attained in this position, to add yet another aspect to the Tantric experience.
The Male likewise should try standing on his head and being manually or orally brought to orgasm.
It will "add a dimension to sensation of which the Tantric has never before dreamed."
This exercise could  correctly be considered "Tantric Yoga."
The difference actually lies not in what the position is, but rather in the underlying doctrine that accompanies it.
In this volume, I have attempted to include interpretations only of the Rituals that apply to true Tantric Sex, and the reaching of Tantric goals not the gray areas which may lead to confusion.
